I was there June 6, 2010 and the pier was closed to fishing. We did go out on the pier and sightsee. Nice pier. Just wished we could have fished. Waited a hole year to fish. Coming back is Sept. Hope the pier is open. Hi John, hope to see you there too. Wish the cam was up, ever if noone is fishing would still like to watch.

The cam is down. We sure do miss it in these trying times!
It tries to initiate but I keep getting a long error message.

i think that somewhere in this world there is someone smart enough to cap the oil gusher . does bp really think that we will let them get away with a slap on the wrist. this time they messed up my fishing. thats a cardnial sin. lets boycot them until they fix it.

  4. john says:

i think the pr blem is that BP does not want to cap the well . if tnohey do they may not be able to acess what oil is still there. why not just boycot bp until they get it fixed?

I was the “official” last man standing on the pier right before they closed the gate due to IVAN!!! Fish were biting like H….Spinner Sharks were everywhere. I have missed the pier and my pier friends dearly. Looking forward to seeing everyone again soon, especially Jerry Brunson, and Mel Turbo. (Maybe we’ll see Elvis this time). And also a big hello to all my chicken fishing friends.

I am planning a trip in July. I’m trying to keep a watch on things there because of the oil spill. I’m hoping it stays away. Anyone with any word on the oil spill and where it’s going to hit????

We have been going to the pier to fish for about 30 years now. we were on the pier the night befor Ivan came to shore and destroyed it. We haven’t been able to find a good place to fish here til the pier reopened. It’s nice to see the cam on the pier. We asked them to put one on it years ago but they didn’t won’t one. Thanks for putting it up. great to see the pier when I can’t get there. We live in Decatur, Il. 820 miles away.

  12. derek says:

    Cliff,

I am by no means a pro but my wife and I have been catching whiting with shrimp. I have seen some flounder and white trout. Have a good trip down.

Hi all, nice to see a cam here at the pier. I am from Ohio and planning to come down in April for vacation. Anybody here local that can fill me in on the fishing here?……what to use, what to fish for? I have been reading about the Cobia, is that hitting down there on the pier? Not seeing many people out on the pier right now. Email me if you can help me out.

man i love having these web cams to look at. the zoom is awsome, the snap shot button is great for taking cool pics of something you see. this really is the next best thing if you cant go to the beach. i have ever web cam in the gulf shore-orange beach area on my desktop. cool tip: get the cams during sunrise if you can stay up late enough. it is really cool to watch the sun rise and reflect off the water from the east. the zeke’s marina cam has a great view. i do wish the pier that this cam is on had another on the other side. i watched as they were rebuilding this pier 2 years ago and stayed right down the beach from it. it would be cool if i could look down the beach and see the old place i stayed at. KEEP ADDING BEACH CAMS!!

  16. Pier#r says:

Yes, Bobby it is great to look back and think “what if…”
The cam is a great tool for checking out the current conditions!
I remember you (from surfing in the 1970s) and believe you have some old friends @ http://www.dauphinislandsurf.com

Good to hear you’re doing well!

It’s nice to be able to look back at where I grew up surfing. Wish they had WebCam back in the day when I lived in Mobile and surfed at DI and the Gulf. Would have saved alot of highway time and gas money I didn’t have.
If anyone sees Joe Barnett, tell him Bobby (the Big Kahuna) in Virginia Beach, VA says HI!!!!!

  18. GREGG says:

THIS IS GREAT. WHEN I WISH I WAS ON THE BEACH THIS IS THE NEXT BEST THING. GREAT IDEA.

Thanks Robin and FinChaser for the help in tech support Have a GREAT HOLIDAY.

  20. FinChaser says:

I had the exact same problem with pier cam only on XP System. Uninstalled Java, reinstalled Java, problem resolved!
    Computers, who knows?
    Merry Christmas and Happy Fishing

  21. Robin says:

EUREKA! I uninstalled Java and reinstalled and it now works. Looks like alot of others were having the issue as well and saw a post today on one of the pier forums where someone had uninstalled Java and reinstalled and it started working again. Don’t ask my why this is the only camera that Java wouldn’t work with but its not the camera… :) Mine works great now.

  22. Robin says:

Ok, just tried this on my Windows Vista computer and it works but my Windows 7 computer doesn’t just for the pier feed. The other feeds work just fine, but pier feed doesn’t.

So basically, feed is working, just some incompatibality with my win 7 box and only with the pier feed. Don’t know why the others work but this one doesn’t.

  23. admin says:

I will look into it. Is this a problem that just started?

  24. Robin says:

What’s up with pier cam. I’m not getting continous update of pic (have to refresh to get a pic update) and when I control I get the green bar but have to refresh to see results. Doesn’t happen to any other camera’s, just pier cam..

  25. Dean says:

thanks, the pier cam is great. can’t wait to come fishing!!!

  26. TreyM says:

  29. outlawsr says:

I seen pics of the state pier it has alot of damage from ida it will take weeks for them to get it all the way open Trey myers said he will try to get it open to the middle asap but the end is missing bow out pannels and plumbing is messed up now so it might take a while to get it fully open agin.

  30. admin says:
